Help “Finish the Fight” to Pass the Federal PBM Reform: Make Your Voice Heard!

Independent Pharmacy Cooperative (IPC) working with other national pharmacy organizations over the past 2 years has been strenuously advocating for Congressional action on meaningful PBM Medicaid managed care and Part D reform legislation. We are down to crunch time before the end of this year to push Congress to enact this needed legislation, and now is the time for action. As members of the Independent Pharmacy Cooperative (IPC), we have a unique opportunity to influence the future of our industry and protect our patients from PBM’s predatory practices.

Why PBM Reform Matters

PBMs have long used practices that threaten independent pharmacy’s ability to serve their patients. Their obscure pricing strategies and unfair reimbursement practices have driven up costs and limited access to essential medications. The good news is that bipartisan support for PBM reform is stronger than ever, with several key bills making their way through Congress. However, to ensure these reforms become law, we need to make our voices heard—and we need our patients to join us in this fight.

How You Can Help

  1. Contact Your Member of Congress: As pharmacy professionals, your firsthand experiences with PBM practices carry significant weight. Reach out to your representatives and urge them to support urgent PBM reform. Emphasize the importance of including these reforms in any moving legislation and the need for immediate action.
  1. Engage Your Patients: Patients are directly affected by PBM practices, often facing higher costs and reduced access to medications. Encourage your patients to add their voices to the call for reform. Explain how PBM practices impact their healthcare and provide them with resources to contact their legislators. To make it easier for your patients to get involved, we have provided messaging resources, including a template for direct communication with their members of Congress.

The Power of Collective Action

The strength of our collective voice cannot be underestimated. By mobilizing both pharmacy professionals and patients, we can create a powerful force for change. Together, we can ensure that Congress enacts the necessary reforms to hold PBMs accountable and protect the future of independent pharmacies.

Act Today

Don’t wait—act today to support PBM reform. Contact your member of Congress, engage your patients, and use the resources provided to amplify our message. Together, we can make a difference and secure a brighter future for our industry and the patients we serve.
