A Look at Pharmacy Support and Supply Chain Strategy
How long have you been with IPC, and what drew you here?
I’m celebrating my two-year anniversary this week! My passion has always been in supply chain and the industry side of pharmacy. Before joining IPC, I didn’t have experience in the secondary market, so stepping into this role has been an incredible learning experience. I’ve gained so much knowledge while supporting IPC members, and that’s what keeps me here.
How does your role support IPC members?
I work on both the branded and generic categories to help pharmacies maximize savings. Whether it’s through direct purchasing on generic contracts or negotiating with branded manufacturers, my focus is on bringing as much value as possible to members.
What’s one thing you do at IPC that members might not realize?
I’m a licensed pharmacist! When evaluating new product requests, I ensure they are clinically appropriate for our members. I also serve as a resource for IPC employees who have questions about medications or therapeutic uses.
How has working at IPC changed your perspective on the industry?
Independent pharmacies have an unmatched connection with their patients. They’re the most accessible healthcare providers in their communities, and they go above and beyond to stay in business despite the challenges they face. Working at IPC has reinforced how important it is to support these business owners and help them continue making an impact.
What’s a project or process you’ve helped improve at IPC?
Over the past year, I led an initiative to improve overall cash flow by optimizing warehouse inventory. We focused on optimizing inventory levels, which allowed IPC to allocate resources to other programs and increase the value provided to members. It was a collaborative effort, and the improvements have made a significant impact.
If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and why?
It might be an unexpected choice, but I’d pick Mariano Rivera, the Yankees relief pitcher from the ‘90s and early 2000s. Growing up in a household full of Yankees fans, baseball was always on. What fascinates me about him is his mastery of his craft—whether it was natural talent or relentless hard work, he became one of the best pitchers in MLB history. It would be inspiring to hear his story firsthand.
